Kristina McDonald was born and raised in Texas, where she received her BA in English from Rice University and worked with literary and education nonprofits, such as Writers in the Schools. She earned an MFA in poetry from Eastern Washington University, where she serves as the Get Lit! Programs’ assistant coordinator. McDonald was a finalist in Narrative’s Third Annual Poetry Contest.

The Goldilocks Principle

I.

He was stargazing again and his dinner
was getting cold. I said, Steaks taste better
when they’re still warm.
He said, Look,
can you see her? I can’t believe
they never knew she was there.
