Rina Piccolo was born and raised in Toronto and is the author of three cartoon collections: Stand Back, I Think I’m Gonna Laugh . . . ; Rina’s Big Book of Sex Cartoons; and Kicking the Habit: Cartoons about the Catholic Church. In 2002 she launched her daily comic strip, “Tina’s Groove.” Piccolo lives with her husband in New York City.

The drugstore clerks laugh at their senior coworker with the stupid name. At the register they stand and chant it repeatedly—“Frethra, Frethra, Frethra”—and then crack up. They jeer when Frethra waddles over to remind them she’s got seniority, and seniority deserves some kind of respect.
