Lars Gustafsson, Swedish poet, novelist, and scholar, was born in 1936 and received a PhD in philosophy at Oxford. Death of a Beekeeper is the most acclaimed work of this celebrated author, whose extensive works focus on the search for identity and a philosophically founded skepticism toward language. In 1982 he immigrated to the United States and converted to Judaism. Now retired from the University of Texas, where he taught philosophy and creative writing, he lives in Sweden.
