Andrew Southam is an internationally acclaimed photographer whose work has been honored by the Society of Publication Designers, exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, Australia, and featured in a Paris exhibition of celebrity portraits in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival. Southam’s photographs have been published in the British, American, Italian, and French editions of Vogue and in Rolling Stone, Esquire, Outside, Elle, New York, the New York Times Magazine, and many others. Originally from Sydney, he has lived in London, Milan, and New York, and currently resides in Los Angeles. About his life as a photographer, he notes, “I finished high school on a Tuesday and began my first job, in a black-and-white darkroom, the next day, thirty years ago.”

His admiration for the works of James Salter prompted him to travel to Salter’s home on Long Island in December 2012, and the photographs here are the result of the time that Southam spent with Salter and his wife, Kay Eldredge. The images evoke the author’s life and work on the occasion of the publication of his seventh novel, All That Is.
