Two Poems

by Corey Van Landingham

Future Nostalgia over Past Technologies of Distance

Name the weapon that could end all sadness.
            Name it
so the dreamy girls who have always had a man’s hand
at the base of their necks
can become saints, so that future girls can repeat
            the word
under their breath in the bathroom during recess,
                                                  haunted with foreign syllables.
