Nikhil Roshan, Third Place winner in the 2014 Narrative 30 Below Contest, is a documentary photographer focusing on communities in conflict. He coauthored a compilation of portraits and stories entitled Lat Does Not Exist, about people displaced by coal mining in Chhattisgarh. Trained in broadcast at the Asian College of Journalism, he worked in television news in Mumbai and was a feature writer and editor covering the arts, culture, and politics for publications in Mumbai and Kolkata. Roshan serves as a media fellow with the National Foundation for India, Delhi.

A Photography Portfolio

Ethnic strife along the Indo-Bangladesh border in 2012 and 2013 displaced nearly half a million people and led to conflict in other parts of India. In early 2014 I set out to create an intimate photographic document of daily life in the Dhubri district along the border where the Brahmaputra River runs.
