Philippa Rees, a finalist in Narrative’s 2013 Winter and 2014 Spring Story Contests, was born into a half-Boer, half-British family, a unique experience straddling the divided country of South Africa. She sampled many fields before settling on the study of psychology and zoology. In 2013 Involution—An Odyssey Reconciling Science to God, a poetic journey through Western thought, was nominated a runner up Book of the Year by the Scientific and Medical Network. Rees has four daughters and lives in Somerset, England.
