Mark Wagenaar is the 2015 winner of the Juniper Prize, from the University of Massachusetts Press, for his second book, The Body Distances. His second, Voodoo Inverso, won the Felix Pollak Prize in 2012, and his poem set “Insomnia Triptych and Other Poems” won Third Place in Narrative’s Sixth Annual Poetry Contest. Wagenaar is the 2015–2016 Halls Poetry Fellow at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a doctoral fellow at the University of North Texas.

How to Disappear

An iPoem

If even the gum you spit out in the street
has enough DNA to re-create your face,

if every email & eyelash is stored at the NSA’s playhouse,
being remembered, bronze statue
                                                       & wake-toast,
is nothing, next to being forgotten.
