Why I Don’t Want to Live Forever

by K. T. Landon

    For Clay Ventre

I want to live forever, as long as I can’t.
You have only to try the perfect,
tasteless produce at Star Market to know
shelf life is a zero-sum game. I want
the wanting more than the forever,
and maybe it’s true that all this wanting
is the source of my unhappiness,
but I want the unhappiness too.
