Ösel Jessica Plante is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where she earned an MA in English, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she received an MFA. She teaches college writing and poetic technique at Florida State University and is a doctoral candidate there. She lives in Tallahassee.

I am standing knee-deep in the ocean and I am


almost never standing in the ocean,
not that way, not anymore. I would buy


two Moscow mules and walk toward the waves,
