Tina Nettesheim was born in Santa Monica and graduated from UCLA and Loyola Law School. In fall 2008 she was named one of Narrative’s Best New Writers. Along with her husband, she founded Nettesheim & Nettesheim, a law firm representing abused and neglected elders. Nettesheim lives in Ventura, California.

In our continuing series of responses from our authors on the best advice they were ever given on matters that were key for them, we’re pleased to offer some advice that is difficult and candid, from writer Tina Nettesheim:

When you’re alone and nineteen and it’s winter in Boston and everyone you love is in Southern California and a gangly intern at the clinic tells you you’re pregnant, you walk. You don’t notice where you’re going because your mind is on fire, saying everything you know to be true.
