Joanna Walsh is an illustrator and writer and the author of the story collection Fractals (2013). As a graphic artist and illustrator, she works under the name Badaude, and her art has appeared in both the Guardian and the Times in Great Britain. Her eponymous visual diary blog was a Webby Honoree in 2008, and she has created large-scale drawings for the Tate Modern. Walsh lives in the UK.

The first time is always the best. Isn’t that so? Like the first time you kiss or taste chocolate or get drunk or ride a motorbike. The first time I went to Paris, I walked until I couldn’t walk anymore, crossing and recrossing, absorbing a little more of the city each time.
