Sally Ball is the author of Annus Mirabilis. She is an assistant professor of English at Arizona State University and an associate director of Four Way Books. Ball lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her husband, T. M. McNally, and their three children.

Monsoon

I wanted the storm to hit, surely more
than I wanted the previous weather,

    which was dense,

    a numbing kind of pressure.

I must have wanted the storm,


the strike of it.
