Deborah Paredez, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, is the author of American Diva: Extraordinary, Unruly, Fabulous (Norton, 2024) and Selenidad: Selena, Latinos, and the Performance of Memory. She has also published two poetry collections. The chair of the writing program at Columbia University, she lives in New York.
